Avigilon HD Surveillance System Delivers Full Coverage at The O2 in London – The World’s Most Popular Venue

Avigilon HD Surveillance System monitors high- traffic areas to capture image details around world-class entertainment complex

Vancouver, Canada – July 7, 2010 – Avigilon, the performance and value leader in high definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance systems, today announced that it has installed the Avigilon HD Surveillance System to monitor traffic at Greenwich Peninsula, a new district in London surrounding the world-class music, sports, and entertainment complex, The O2. The Avigilon HD Surveillance System has also been installed at indigO2, a 2,350 capacity live music venue inside The O2.

Trained by the experts at Direct Security, security professionals were up and running on the Avigilon system quickly and smoothly. “Using the Avigilon HD Surveillance System, operators can easily manage images to review footage and pinpoint specific details for positive identification.”

Operators at The O2 Operational Control Room manage the Avigilon HD Surveillance System using Avigilon Control Center network video management software (NVMS) with HD Stream Management. Avigilon HD cameras ranging from one to 16 megapixels were installed around the exterior of The O2 to monitor high-traffic areas and capture license plate and facial details, and at all entrances at indigO2 to identify incoming ticket holders.

Several Avigilon Analog Video Encoders were installed to create a hybrid surveillance system that dramatically improves the performance of PTZ analog cameras in a very cost effective manner. An Avigilon Network Video Recorder (NVR) stores up to 31 days of continuous surveillance video and additional workstations were set up at the Greenwich Peninsula Business Centre and the nearby Transport for London building.

With a five-year plan to transition the Peninsula’s entire surveillance system over to the Avigilon platform, flexibility and scalability were key selling features for GPRL. In fact, the entire system is expandable and can grow as more entertainment and leisure venues are added throughout the development. The Avigilon HD Surveillance System was designed and installed to achieve maximum image quality with the lowest bandwidth requirements and longest recording times possible. Leveraging Avigilon’s use of lossless compression technology, operators can view live scenes and recorded footage at the same time, zooming into specific events on up to eight split-screens on one monitor to dramatically expedite the investigation process.
