What's New for Doktor Jon's Site
- July 2008 -

It's Anniversary Time !!

It hardly seems possible, but it's now four years since Doktor Jon officially launched this website project in June 2004.

It might sound a bit of a cliche, but it's certainly fair to say that an awful lot has happened since then, so whilst the project is now over 1500 pages overall, it seemed that this would be the ideal time to have a bit of a facelift .... not that DJ is beginning to look his age, but then that's another story!

July 1st 2008 will see three main improvements to the project, the first and hopefully most obvious, being a new look and layout for the pages. Initially the Main Gateway and Index pages will be sporting the new look, with a tidier layout, more graphics, and a more intuitive sidebar to make navigating even easier.

Over the next few weeks, and subject to visitor approval ( you see, your opinion really does count! ) the new look will be rolled out across the entire site.

In response to popular demand, the News Section will also be expanded and improved, with manufacturers Press Releases now being displayed complete with supporting images. This will hopefully provide far more information on new products, projects and services, than would peviously have been possible on the general news pages.

The third and final new innovation, is actually a rather unique service for visitors that already have CCTV / IP Video cameras installed. Time and again DJ is asked how best to improve existing cameras so that they are more effective for any given purpose.

As from 1st September 2008, as part of the ongoing development of the TRUSTED campaign, a new service will be launched that allows anyone to forward a JPEG image from a camera or recording, and DJ can then provide a brief report on how well it's been set up, and what improvements could be considered to make it more effective.

As this is a requested service, there will be a small charge for reporting on each image submitted, although if you just want to give it a try, you can always submit a single picture file for assesment free of charge.

Oh well, four years on and there's still an awful lot to do; if you have any requests, suggestions or ideas for improving the site, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks as always for your support ... it is very much appreciated !!
