AVT announce their new products for 2010

The AVT flagship with FireWire interface gets new 11- and 16-megapixel sensors with outstanding image quality.

Allied Vision Technologies presents two new models of its Pike camera family with high-resolution 11- and 16-megapixel image sensors. The new Pike F-1100 and F-1600 have the Kodak sensors made famous by the Prosilica GE series, known for their very high resolution and good sensitivity.

Big is beautiful - On the outside, the two new Pike models differ from the rest of the Pike family with their larger housing, owing to their voluminous sensors. The original Pike’s intrinsic values, such as its comprehensive smart functions for image optimization and camera control, have remained. The highest possible image quality was of primary concern during development. Thus, the sensors used in this Pike  function well at warmer temperatures, promising especially low noise values. The High-SNR mode and the high-quality IR-cut filter provide up to 16-bit genuine image data, more sensitivity, and outstanding image rendering. As with all other Pike cameras, the Pike F-1100 and F-1600 are equipped with two IEEE 1394b connections for daisy-chain networking. Along with the classic copper version, an optional version with one copper and one fiber optic connection is available where longer distances need to be bridged. These new AVT Pike models are especially well-suited for demanding applications where image quality, sharpness, precision and detail are essential, such as those in the sciences or in medical technology.

The Guppy, Allied Vision Technologies’ much-loved mini-camera family with IEEE 1394a interfaces, has some new additions. The new Guppy Pro models are equipped with a fast IEEE 1394b interface and provide up to twice as much bandwith for image data transmission.

Smallest FireWire camera in the world - The big plus of the Guppy Pro isn’t its dimensions. Quite to the contrary: the new Guppy models are even smaller than earlier versions. With housing dimensions of 29 x 29 x 29 mm, the Guppy Pro is likely the smallest FireWire camera on the market for industrial imaging. Thanks to this compact format, the Guppy is more ideally suited than ever before for applications in which component size is a deciding factor. During intial market release, five models with Progressive Scan CCD or CMOS sensors, available in both color and black-and-white (monochrome) will be available. Resolutions begin at VGA (0.3 megapixels)  up to 5 megapixels. The Guppy Pro’s range of available functions is identical to that of the Guppy (True Partial Scan, Auto Gain/Exposure/White Balance, Look-up Tables, and more), which along with an attractive price, means that Guppy Pro offers an outstanding cost/performance ratio.

Stingray, the quick-change artist of Allied Vision Technologies’ cameras, just became even more flexible. Alongside the two prior interface variations of the FireWire Standard (IEEE 1394b with copper or fiber optic), now GigE Vision is also available as an interface option. Thanks to its modular construction, the Stingray can be customized with a multitude of interfaces, housings, sensors and lens mounts to meet every application requirement.

VGA up to 5 megapixels - With its GigE Vision interface, the Stingray GE is especially well-suited to applications requiring high image rates while bridging great distances between the host computer and the camera. The Stingray GE, like all others in the Stingray family, offers extensive functions for image optimization and easy system integration. As such, it’s the first GigE Vision camera from Allied Vision Technologies to fully combine the so-called “AVT Smart Features” with a Gigabit Ethernet interface. Wherever possible, the GE versions of the Stingray have integrated the highly sensitive Sony ICX CCD sensors with resolutions from VGA up to 5 megapixels, the same sensors as in the FireWire models. Thus, the GigE Stingray promises to provide the same high image quality as the FireWire models.

At the VISION 2009 in Stuttgart, Allied Vision Technologies presented a new camera family with Gigabit Ethernet interface. The Manta (see photo above) is a simple, robust digital camera for industrial imaging applications that makes the advantages of GigE Vision technology, together with AVT quality, completely affordable.

Premium CCD sensors - Manta doesn’t skimp on the essentials: it’s equipped with the popular ICX CCD sensors from Sony in six different resolutions ranging from VGA (0.3 megapixels) to 2 megapixels, thus delivering outstanding image quality. Thanks to its optimized GigE Vision interface,  it produces up to 60 images per second at full resolution (VGA). Its compact housing is designed for the stresses and strains of industrial use, and the workmanship complies fully with Allied Vision Technologies’ high standards. The AVT Manta offers a lot of camera for a little price. It does without less crucial image optimization and control functions and the otherwise typical AVT modular construction. With the Manta, Allied Vision Technologies has focused on a robust and premium-quality GigE Vision standard camera with an unparalleled cost/performance ratio for the most prevalent industrial uses.

The new camera models will be available beginning Q2/2010.
