BriefCam wins a prestigious Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award

Neve Ilan, Israel, September 27, 2010 – BriefCam, Ltd. (www.briefcam.com), the developer and provider of Video Synopsis™ systems for reviewing, analyzing and indexing of video camera content, today announced it is the Winner of the Physical Security category in this year’s Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards.

The competition for this prestigious award was intense with only 49 out of nearly 597 entries receiving an award (8%). More than a quarter of the prize-winners were non-US companies. Journal editors reviewed the entries and forwarded about 275 to a panel of judges from research institutions, venture-capital firms and other companies. The judges chose winners in 17 categories, based on three criteria:

1. Does the innovation break with conventional ideas or processes in its field?

2. Does it go beyond marginal improvements on something that already exists?

3. Will it have a wide impact on future technology in its field or in other fields?

BriefCam’s solution for the rapid review of video met all three criteria. The Wall Street Journal writes: “Surveillance cameras generate a prodigious amount of video; unfortunately there’s not enough time and manpower to watch it all.

The winner in this category, Israel-based BriefCam Ltd., has developed a fresh solution to the problem: Video Synopsis, which enables a viewer to browse a day’s worth of recording in just a few minutes by creating a summary of all the activities captured by a camera.”

Full coverage of the awards appears online at http://www.WSJ.com/Reports and will be published in The Wall Street Journal’s three global editions today.

“We are honored to be named the winner in the Physical Security category of this prestigious award, said Dror Irani, President and CEO of BriefCam. “Video Synopsis technology is an innovation with applications for any and all sectors generating long amounts of video, whether recorded or streamed.

To date, such footage generally went unwatched until after the fact – often long after. With BriefCam, it’s now possible to review hours, days, weeks and even months of video in a manageable amount of time and it’s very gratifying that the Wall Street Journal has recognized both the need for Video Synopsis and its potential.”

BriefCam will be attending Security Essen 2010 on October 5-8, 2010, Essen, Germany at Hall 2.0, Booth 330 and ASIS 2010 in Dallas Texas on October 12-15, 2010, at Booth #3667, Media interviews may be arranged.
