IndigoVision Extends Integration Capability

IndigoVision, a leading provider of complete IP Video security solutions, has released a new integration feature for Control Center, the company’s Security Management Software. ‘Custom Objects’ enables special icons to be defined, which when clicked on generate an action in a third party system. These custom icons are displayed on an interactive map or in Control Center’s Site Explorer.

Interactive maps are an excellent way for a security team to monitor the surveillance landscape of their operation. Maps can be created from photographs and plans of the site, which can be imported as a jpeg image.

Camera and alarm icons are overlaid on the map, giving operators a simple yet effective visual display of the system. Clicking on a specific camera icon will display the video from that camera. ‘Custom Objects’ can now be added to any map to allow clickable actions and to switch camera views from external equipment such as DVRs.

This allows operators to use one intuitive video management interface to monitor cameras from hybrid systems, where legacy analogue equipment has been integrated into the IP Video system.

Custom Objects’ can trigger any actions in other systems that interface over an IP network. Multiple actions can be assigned to a single ‘Custom Object’ and the custom icon can change to reflect the state of the output. Door locking or release, parking barrier control, local alarm activation and plant shutdown are typical actions that can be triggered from a simple mouse click.

The company’s open distributed architecture provides an ideal platform for integration with other systems through interface modules and discrete hardware. IndigoVision has developed 23 interface modules that allow seamless integration over the IP network with systems such as access control, intruder alarm, BMS, process control and Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS).

Events or alarms from these systems can cause actions in Control Center, such as displaying video, moving a camera to preset PTZ positions or start recording. Similar actions can be triggered via digital inputs, which can be connected to IndigoVision’s video transmitter/receiver units or via an IP Alarm Panel that provides 32 opto-isolated binary inputs and 8 relay outputs.

Control Center also provides the user with advanced alarm management, which makes the IP Video system the ideal place to consolidate alarms, information and video from all the systems in the integrated security solution. Alarms, events and actions are all logged on the system and can be bookmarked on the video, allowing fast post-event analysis. Integration of several security systems across the IP network and the use of specialist features such as ‘Custom Objects’ has been shown to create a more efficient operator environment leading to quicker incident response.
