Video Synchronisation Aids Evidence Gathering

‘Control Center’, IndigoVision’s IP Video Security Management Software, enables surveillance operators to view live and recorded video from any combination of cameras within the system. It provides an advanced set of features and analytics for analysing recorded footage for specific events, together with full video synchronisation, which is an invaluable tool for evidence gathering.

Recorded video from several cameras at different times can be viewed on the same viewing window. With a single click of the mouse all the cameras can be time synchronised together, allowing operators to follow the action across several views. For example, a person could be followed through a shopping mall as they move from camera to camera. A single event can also be played back from different cameras, giving operators multiple views of the same incident.

These selected cameras can be exported as tamperproof evidential quality video clips for use by the police or in court. The video clips can then be viewed using IndigoVision’s Incident Player application, which can be run on any court/police PC straight from a CD, eliminating the need to install software. The Incident Player will automatically authenticate and time synchronise the various video clips during playback.

High quality audio can also be recorded alongside the video. The audio is fully synchronised with the video ensuring perfect lip sync is maintained. This combined with IndigoVision’s unique guarantee of no dropped frames (even with HD video at full-framerate in high-motion scenes) creates a powerful recording environment for law enforcement interviews.

IndigoVision’s standalone, fault-tolerant Network Video Recorders (NVRs) provide a reliable and redundant recording platform for archived video. The combination of resilient NVR hardware and ‘Control Center’ software has transformed many surveillance and recording operations in Police departments around the world, including Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey, USA.

Commenting on the recent IP Video upgrade at Hudson County, Sergeant Gerald Dezenzo, Head of Computer Crimes, said, “It is vitally important when recording interviews that we have no delay between the audio and video, otherwise it could bring into question the validity of the interview. Following an analysis of competing systems we chose IndigoVision’s solution because it delivered the highest quality video and the best audio and video synchronisation.
