Innovative surveillance technology can accurately identify faces in real-time
Leading biometrics experts OmniPerception has developed innovative facial surveillance technology that is capable of identifying faces in seconds.
CheckPoint.S™ uses OmniPerception’s tried and tested face identification technology but in a unique way which experts predict will enhance the safety and security of public places by acting as a 24/7 security guard that never forgets a face.
As well as accurately identifying possible criminals, the technology can also be used to confirm the identity of VIPs looking to enter premises such as hotels and casinos.
Developed by experts at the company’s UK headquarters, CheckPoint.S™ is unique in that it can capture an image and recognises a suspect as they walk past the camera.
The suspect doesn’t have to directly look at the camera because the technology is so advanced that it is capable of extracting the facial features from the image and compares these against images already stored in an existing database.
The search is completed in seconds and if a match is recorded, CheckPoint.S™ relays any alerts in real-time.
Stewart Hefferman, the CEO of OmniPerception explains that the technology could prove an effective tool in the fight against crime, terrorism and identity theft.
“One of the principle challenges for police and law enforcement agencies is to prove the identity of a wanted individual. CheckPoint.S™ uses the unique biometric features of a person’s facial features to provide real-time facial identification,” he said.
“We are really excited at the potential that exists to use CheckPoint.S™ as a valuable resource to combat crime, terrorism and identify theft and enhance the safety and security of our public spaces.”
OmniPerception face recognition technology is already widely used among the law enforcement, finance, leisure and airport security industries.
