Pre-ASIS Tour To Highlight Wireless Video Surveillance In Dallas

Dallas, TX (September 13, 2010) – Attendees at the ASIS show this October will have a chance to see up-close and first-hand how wireless video surveillance is a valuable tool to help law enforcement fight crime in Dallas, the host city for the ASIS International 56th Annual Seminar and Exhibits. Local print and broadcast media are also invited to attend (press registration with ASIS is required to attend the tour.)

On a specially designed tour of the city, participants will see how the wireless video surveillance system watching over various parts of Dallas has demonstrated its effectiveness as a crime fighting tool. The group will visit the Downtown Dallas Business District, Arts District, and Uptown Dallas area en route to the Dallas Police headquarters, where they will tour the Police Command Center and learn about the wireless video surveillance network and the Dallas Police Department's impressive results using video to fight crime.

Successful public/private partnerships were instrumental in the deployment of the camera systems in several areas of city, including the Central Business District, the Arts District, the Jefferson Avenue area, and the Jubilee Park neighborhood. The installation has been in operation since 2007 and is one of the largest deployments of wireless IP video surveillance in the country.

Sponsors of the ASIS tour are OnSSI, which supplies video surveillance software for Dallas; Firetide, a supplier of wireless infrastructure mesh networks for IP video surveillance in the Texas city; and BearCom, a wireless communications solutions provider that designed and installed the Dallas system. The tour is planned for Monday, October 11, the day before the ASIS show, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

A senior police officer leading the tour will detail how the Dallas Police Department is using the technology and summarize the crime-fighting results, benefits, value and future plans for the city and police department as they relate to the use of physical security technology.

The tour costs $50 per person (including transportation), and ASIS attendees may register by visiting www.tradeshowregistrar.com/regsystem18/?event=ASIS2010.

Tour is FREE for media representatives who are registered for ASIS press credentials (http://www.asisonline.org/newsroom/mediaPass.xml)
