Latest News Stuff ...

... from Codestuff

News stuff
Codestuff is one of the UK's leading software development companies for the management of IP Video CCTV systems. Our product portfolio includes our own "Quorum" branded product range as well as a number of bespoke systems for shopping malls, airports etc where off the shelf products do not offer the required integration needed in these types of environments.

We are also a large supplier of OEM products and produce Video Management Systems for some of the world's largest CCTV suppliers and Integrators. These are installed worldwide and cover systems with just a few cameras, to hundreds of cameras.

Training stuff
Work continues on Codestuff Academy, our new training facility in the outskirts of Edinburgh. The facility will have two main training areas with a further function/conference room for 100 delegates. We will also have a dual facility for a further seven delegates during busy periods. Refurbishment is well underway and we are planning to have the first courses in October.

Until our new facility is fully up and running, we are continuing our training on a monthly basis at our head office near Livingston but this new facility will allow a number of new courses, with the added benefit of a relaxing round of golf after a hard day's studying. Product Stuff - Quorum Wall
Quorum Wall is a flexible and dynamic Videowall, ideal for when you have many cameras that you want to view simultaneously, or just as an overview of your site. Quorum Wall allows you to view live and recorded IP video on multiple video panes, with displays of up to 5x5 providing security operators with increased flexibility.

In Motion event driven mode, the Videowall dynamically adjusts the screen to only display images of cameras in alarm as a full screen, 2x2, 3x3 and so on. It can also be programmed for blank screen monitors for instant notification to operators. Quorum Wall is possibly one of the most flexible viewing stations around, with client selectable views, motion-event views or blank screen monitoring ensuring operators are presented with surveillance-worthy viewing at all times.  Multiple Videowalls can be connected to the IP network, each with up to 25 displayed streams, allowing for centralised management.

Key Benefits
• Support for IP video streams from over 20 different manufacturers
• Wide range of video pane layout options
• Automated motion-event driven display mode
• Controlled either as a standalone product, or from within the Quorum Pro management suite.
• Accessible via a standard web browser.

People Stuff - Mike Toon
Mike Toon graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2007 with an MEng in Electronic Engineering with Music. He has previously worked at Picsel Technologies and at Popmorphic, where he developed innovative technology for dynamic video content generation. Whilst working on a range of video-related technologies he has developed his skills as a software engineer and become involved in Microsoft .Net development. These are skills that he has been able to develop further since joining Codestuff in 2010.

Mike says: "I've been involved in many aspects of development at Codestuff, working on numerous projects for different companies, and I find the dynamic nature of the jobs makes working here very interesting as there is never a dull moment! Most recently I have been involved in developing WPF user interfaces for our applications. Using these newer technologies allows us to offer a greater flexibility in the look and feel of the software we develop whilst retaining our consistent core technology. Outside work I have various interests. I'm a keen musician and have been playing bass guitar in rock bands for a number of years. When the weather permits, I can often be found hill walking at weekends. Earlier this year I completed 30 miles challenge hike in 11 hours, however I would say that was a lot more about endurance than enjoyment! I suppose the same could be said of my support for Aberdeen Football Club... "
