RVR LAUNCHES MONITORED CCTV FOR TEMPORARY APPLICATIONS

- (26th April 2011) Remote Video Response (RVR), one of the UK’s leading providers of remote monitoring services, launched a portable, monitored CCTV system that can be rapidly deployed in applications where surveillance is required on a temporary basis. RVR is a business of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

RVR’s new and improved NAS system combines a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) day/night dome camera and wireless passive infrared (PIR) detectors within a tough, Kevlar reinforced housing that can deployed within minutes, requiring only a 240 volt power supply.

Should an intruder be detected, the unit transmits live or recorded images back to either a handheld PDA, laptop or RVR’s remote video response centre (RVRC) via wireless 3G technology. RVR’s trained operators can see what is happening in real-time, act immediately, and can access an integrated audio amplifier and speaker to issue commands to warn intruders off-site if required.

The unit is ideally suited for one-off events or construction sites – indeed any application where a permanent solution is inappropriate or impractical, says Colin Walters, General Manager of RVR:

“NAS is designed so that it can be quickly deployed and taken down, but provide reliable surveillance while it is there,” he explains. “This makes it ideal for monitoring, recording, and ultimately preventing such things as fly tipping, petty vandalism, and other anti-social behaviours.”

Although ideal for temporary applications, the product is also designed to be used on a permanent basis, Colin continues. “The Kevlar housing is virtually indestructible,” he says, “and a battery back-up means the system doesn’t fail, even if the mains do. NAS is also IP66-rated which means it can operate in all conditions, rain or shine.”

The unit is itself fitted with a GPS tracker, so that if it is stolen, it can be tracked and recovered.

The NAS CCTV system is a mobile unit that includes: 28:1 Sony True day night auto focus PTZ dome camera; 500GB digital video recorder capable of real time recording and transmission; inbuilt receiver for up to eight wireless external intruder detectors; two year battery life on wireless detectors; 20 watt audio amplifier and speaker for remote intruder personal address; LAN, WAN via WiFi and 3G (HSDPA HSUPA/GPRS/Edge connectivity; inbuilt battery providing UPS operation for up to 2.5 hours; IP65 rated enclosure; Kevlar reinforced ‘Eglass’ providing high level vandal/bullet resistance and protection from cellular and WiFi antenna; single piece milled quick fit/release lockable bracket; ground level programming on WiFi or remotely via 3G; GPS Location Tracker fitted utilizing Google Earth.
