AVT Reveals First-Ever 9 Megapixel Machine Vision Camera

Allied Vision Technologies displayed prototype of Manta G-917 GigE Vision camera at AIA Vision Show 2012. World’s first machine vision camera with new 9-Megapixel sensor.

Allied Vision Technologies gave a sneak preview of the first 9.2 Megapixel CCD camera in the machine vision market at the AIA Vision Show held in Boston on May 8-10, 2012. The camera manufacturer exhibited a prototype of its upcoming Manta G-917 in its booth. The new camera relies on an early sample of a brand new sensor from a leading manufacturer to be introduced in the market by the end of the year.

9.2 Megapixel resolution at 10 frames per second

This new 1“ sensor chip has a 3384x2710 pixels resolution and delivers over 10 fps. The camera offers excellent image quality, reduced smear, high quantum efficiency and increased NIR sensitivity.

With its high resolution approach packaged in a standard industrial camera form factor of 44 x 29 x 86.4 mm, the Manta G-917 closes the gap between conventional machine vision cameras and very high resolution cameras with 35mm sensors such as the new Prosilica GT6600.

The Manta G-917 will offer best in class price/performance ratio for high resolution applications such as ITS (Intelligent Transportation Solutions), microscopy or scientific applications as well for security purposes.

The Manta G-917 will be available in 4th quarter 2012.

Manta: Four New Models with EXview HAD CCD II Technology

AVT premieres four new Manta cameras featuring fast Sony dual-tap sensors with EXview HAD CCD II technology

From May 8-10, 2012 Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) exhibited at the AIA Vision Show in Boston, Massachusetts, where the company premiered a number of new cameras including four new models from the popular Manta family of GigE Vision® compliant cameras.

Manta G-282: First camera to feature the Sony ICX687 CCD sensor
The 2.82 Megapixel Manta G-282 is the first machine vision camera on the market to feature the new ICX687 EXview HAD CCD II sensor from Sony.

The ICX687 is a compact device that provides high near-infrared sensitivity and full HD resolution. The Manta G-282 runs 30 frames per second at full 1936 x 1458 resolution in dual-tap mode and is ideal for a wide range of applications including ITS, security, metrology and inspection systems as well as industrial imaging.

Manta G-283: Fast 2.82MP dual-tap camera, 30fps
The Manta G-283 is a fast dual-tap camera featuring the Sony ICX674 EXview HAD CCD II sensor. With fast full resolution frame rates up to 30 fps, excellent sensitivity and near-infrared response, the Manta G-283 is the ideal camera for demanding applications such as metrology and inspection systems, scientific measurement or low-light applications that require a high performance camera with NIR sensitivity.

Manta G-609: 15 fps at 6 Megapixel resolution

The 6 Megapixel Manta G-609 is a high performance camera featuring the Sony ICX694 ExView HAD CCD II sensor, a device that offers excellent image quality, reduced smear, higher quantum efficiency and increased NIR sensitivity. The Manta G-609 is best in class for high resolution/high sensitivity applications such as ITS, microscopy or scientific applications.

5 Megapixel Manta G-505

The Manta G-505 is equipped with the ICX625 Super HAD CCD device from Sony that provides 15 frames per second at full 2448x2050 resolution and is ideal for applications such as industrial imaging that require high resolution.

Outstanding price/performance ratio

The Manta camera family offers feature-rich GigE Vision® cameras with an outstanding price/performance ratio. The Manta family offers many modular options including PoE (Power over Ethernet), angled head form factor, sensor range from VGA-6MP, and a robust housing to fit into many applications. The Manta cameras come with new features such as switchable tap output (dual-tap models except G-505), three LUTs (separate R, G, and B control) and color correction for powerful on-camera interpolation.

The Manta G-282, G-283, G-505 and G-609 will be available in Q3 / 2012.
