ELMDENE POWERS AHEAD WITH ENHANCED TR PSU RANGE

FOR ACCESS CONTROL APPLICATIONS

Innovative electronic security and fire products manufacturer, Elmdene International Limited - a subsidiary of Potter Electric Signal, LLC - has unveiled a number of key enhancements to its popular TR range 24V door retainer Power Supply Units (PSUs). The new capabilities mean that the latest TR units are ideally suited to access control applications where there is a specific requirement to remotely control the output of a power supply

.

Elmdene envisages that a typical deployment of the TR range's remote control functionality will be in the powering of door retainers with a link to a fire panel. Now in the event of a fire activation the power supply output to the doors can be switched off remotely, so facilitating effective smoke containment.

Another key feature of the upgraded TR range is an increased number of input options. This includes the ability, for fail-safe operation, to detect when a normally closed volt-free contact is opened and the closing of a volt-free contact. There is also the potential, crucially, to apply an external 24V dc supply such as a sounder circuit.

To support rapid diagnostics, all units in the TR range incorporate LED status indicators as standard. The indicators are automatically illuminated in the event of a mains input and output fuse failure.

Looking in more detail at the TR range, it features 2.0 and 4.0A models, which come in a 200mm x 230mm x 80mm enclosure, have an output of 22 - 30V dc nominal and are rated for use with a 230V at 50Hz mains supply. The CE Marked models are backed by a three-year warranty and are suitable for operation in a wide temperature range from -10 degrees C to 40 degrees C.

Said Justin Roberts, Sales and Marketing Director at Elmdene: "The bringing to market of our next generation TR PSUs will ensure that Elmdene's customers are able to call upon extremely capable and reliable units that not only offer much greater flexibility than their predecessors, when it comes to the control of power output and expanded input options, but are readily able to cope with future challenges in the access control environment."
