Upgrading from Mirasys VMS 5.X to 6.0

Hello all!

We have received some questions about upgrading from Mirasys VMS 5.X to 6.0; though the upgrade process functions mainly as previously, there are some hints on how to ensure the smoothness of upgrading.

To upgrade from Mirasys VMS 5.X to 6.0:

When upgrading from Mirasys VMS 5.X to 6.0, do not uninstall your 5.X software before installing 6.0. Please remember to have the 6.0 license file available; you need the file to be able to go through the installation process, as licenses are now entered during installation (you can later change or upgrade the license through System Manager).

You cannot upgrade to a fully functioning Mirasys VMS 6.0 without a new license. It is important to note that in VMS 6.0, licenses are provided as files, not text stings as previously.

To update from 5.X to 6.0:

1)    Back up your settings through the System Manager before starting the process.

2)    Install .NET Framework 4.0.

3)    Install Mirasys VMS 6.0.

4)    During the installation process, enter the license file.

NOTE: If you remove version 5.X software before installing 6.0, and then click ‘Cancel’ when the 6.0 installer asks for a new license, the software will be installed without a license. If this is done, all configurations (including camera names and settings) will be removed and you will not be able to restore them after updating the license through the System Manager.
