Synectics ‘riots research’ part of Global MSC Security Seminar line-up

Synectics, a subsidiary of Quadnetics Group, will be supporting this year’s Global MSC Security (MSC) Seminar and Exhibition, taking place on 6th March at The Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, with a presentation on changing attitudes to CCTV in the wake of the riots.

The presentation, to be delivered by Azadar Shah, Managing Director of Synectics' networks division, forms part of an impressive line-up of speakers who will be discussing the demands and challenges facing the industry in light of both the riots and increasing austerity measures.

The MSC Seminar and Exhibition will coincide with the release of a full report by the Riots Communities and Victims Panel, with many of these issues covered by keynote speaker Deputy Chief Constable Graeme Gerrard, the Association of Chief Police Officers’ (ACPO) lead on CCTV.

Those attending the seminar, including security managers from universities, hospitals, and local authorities, together with police services and crime reduction specialists, will also be attending a pre-event networking dinner on March 5th.

The dinner and networking evening, sponsored by Synectics in conjunction with Bristol City Council, will feature a live demonstration of the Council’s CCTV system. Guests will be able to see Synectics technology in action and learn about how the Council is utilising CCTV to improve public safety and combat anti-social behavior.

Azadar Shah, Managing Director of Synectics’ networks division, said: “In many ways 2011 was a critical year for the CCTV industry. The riots and huge impact of public sector budget cuts have created a situation of conflicting needs – addressing growing public demand for improved anti-social behavior measures but doing so within the confines imposed by a period of austerity.

“The MSC Security Seminar is a great opportunity for like-minded individuals with responsibilities for public safety, security and crime reduction, to come together, share experiences around this topic area, and learn about the technology available to support them in achieving their objectives.”

As well as being able to attend presentations and visit stands exhibiting the latest products and services, delegates will have the opportunity to pose questions to the panel of experts from the security and law enforcement sectors in a ‘Question Time’ style debate. The day will also support professionals participating in the Security Institute’s CPD programme, with a maximum eight points available to attendees.

The recently formed CCTV National Standards Forum (CNSF), an independent Home Office recognised Think Tank comprising representatives from The Security Institute, ACPO, The Association of Train Operating Companies, Public CCTV Managers Association, Association of Security Consultants, and other CCTV operation and management experts, will be also be holding its next meeting at this event.

Derek Maltby the Global MSC Security Managing Director said: “Organisations attending value these informative seminars where they can keep up-to-date with the changing security technology and learn from their peers how to improve on the efficiency and effectiveness of CCTV for the benefit of the community”.
