Remote Control PTZ Cameras | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The now ageing convention of fitting a fully functional camera onto a pan and tilt head, is possibly entering its twilight years, and quite frankly, it just shouldnt be so. For public area CCTV coverage, it is by far the most effective solution, but only if used as a supplementary installation to existing fixed Evidential Quality Recording cameras. Using these hugely flexible Pan Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) units as stand alone solutions, is an economic nonsense borne out of general ignorance. If correctly configured, and appropriately located, they can have a quite astonishing effect at reducing crime and increasing a local communities sense of well being. These units truly are the heavyweights in the CCTV arsenal, yet considering their enormous capital cost for most public area projects, its a constant source of amazement how readily the money can be found, when the political will is raised. In the wider scheme of things, whilst PTZ cameras are still the preferred option for applications like traffic surveillance, and to a lesser degree commercial or manufacturing premises, the ubiquitous 'Dome' will continue to reduce the attractiveness and suitability of full functioning camera assemblies, in many everyday commercial applications.
