Information on a wide range of housings, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Anything less than IP 55 and it really shouldnt be placed open to the elements; over IP 65 and it can rain till the cows come home, provided of course its installed in line with the manufacturers recommendations. For industrial PCB cameras, there are a very limited number of miniature weatherproof housings, which can provide a simple solution for short distance outdoor surveillance, such as visual verification, door entry or visitor ID roles. Unlike their larger cousins, these housings rarely contain thermostatically controlled heating elements, relying instead on the heat generated by the cameras circuitry to keep the window glass or plastic, free from condensation. The fact that most do not have a sun shield fitted, also makes it important to remember that because these boxes contain so little space, they really shouldnt be placed in direct sun, otherwise you seriously risk cooking the camera circuits!
