REMGUARD HIGHLIGHTS GROWING POTENTIAL OF

REMOTELY MONITORED CCTV FOR RESIDENTIAL

HIGH NET WORTH PROTECTION

RemGuard Visual Management part of AD Group is highlighting the growing potential of remotely monitored, detector activated, CCTV to protect the homes of high net worth individuals from attack, against the backdrop of their increased targeting by ruthless criminal gangs.

High profile incidents, in both urban and country areas across Britain, including individuals being tied-up and threatened in their own homes during robberies, has, according to RemGuard, underlined the vulnerability of residential properties to attack.  Alongside this, figures released by the Home Office last month which cover England and Wales show that a second consecutive quarterly rise in recorded crime figures for burglary up 4 per cent between October and December 2008 compared with the equivalent  period in 2007

Said Alan Collinge, Operators Director at RemGuard: “The reality is that many homeowners still rely on measures that are just not going to be effective in dealing with hardened criminals, what is required is a proactive solution where there is actually the ability to deter and intervene if an attack is launched on a high value property. There is now, I believe, the potential to bridge this security gap, cost effectively, by moving away from traditional approaches to residential security and, crucially, adopting event-driven, remotely monitored, CCTV more typically specified for commercial sites.

“From a RemGuard perspective, there has certainly been an increase year-on-year in the number of homeowners using our service, especially celebrities and also business people looking to provide the same level of protection for their properties as they do at their work premises. We are seeing a surge in the monitoring of residences owned by Premier League footballers. Sadly a spate of incidents in the North West of England has shown that criminals are all too aware when top flight footballers are playing they only have to switch on their televisions - and will target their attacks accordingly, which without effective measures in place can put the player’s family and possessions at risk.”

It is in the detection of unauthorized and potentially malicious intruders at the earliest possible stage where RemGuard believes that remotely monitored, detector activated, CCTV really comes into its own for domestic properties. If an incident does occur, strategically placed detectors will be triggered and the relevant images from a series of on-site overt and covert CCTV cameras, adjacent to the specific event, transmitted via Internet broadband connection to RemGuard’s 24-hour BS8418 compliant Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC). Here operators can visually confirm what is happening and issue verbal warnings if necessary (via on-site speakers) to intruders experience suggests that this step alone is a sufficient deterrent for over 90 per cent of intruders. Where offenders are more determined, operators can rapidly alert the emergency services and key holders so they can take appropriate action.

RemGuard is able to offer an attractive package to new residential customers who sign-up for a three year contract. This includes a free Broadband Router Offer allowing connection to RemGuard’s Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) - so taking advantage of any existing broadband facility a homeowner may have - as well as the supply of the company’s RemVu Aquila video transmission system on a free-for-use basis.
