AD Group promotes Dr. Nick Taylor
to Director of Hardware Engineering

CCTV specialist AD Group, the parent company of Dedicated Micros, announces the promotion of Dr Nick Taylor to the position of Director of Hardware Engineering, accountable directly to the CEO of AD Group, Mike Newton, with reporting responsibilities to the AD Group Board.

Dr Taylor originally joined the hardware development department of Dedicated Micros as a Senior Engineer in 1997 and became Hardware Development Manager for AD Group in 2004. In his new role he will assume responsibility for all hardware development, including both electronic and mechanical engineering activities, across all AD Group companies.

Said Nick Taylor: "I am delighted to have been offered this enhanced role. We have a great engineering team and I am proud to lead them in creating high-performance new platforms for a wide range of products. In my new role I can help ensure that all AD Group businesses and customers can benefit from the timely introduction of our pioneering technologies. One particularly exciting aspect is the close involvement with the ChipWrights semiconductor subsidiary in Boston, USA. We are now working on a number of designs based around their innovative and powerful System-on-Chip, CW5631. This will form the core for many new products, ranging from our own NetVu Connected CCTV systems to digital media products for a variety of consumer applications."

Commented Mike Newton, CEO of AD Group: "Nick is an extremely talented and experienced individual and has a proven track record in hardware development working both for Dedicated Micros and AD Group. This is an important appointment as in this new position, working directly with me and the AD Group Board, Nick will be tasked with overseeing the seamless management and integration of hardware engineering activities across all of our AD Group companies."

Nick has a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Electronic Communication and a PhD in Digital Audio Coding, both from the University of Salford. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Electronics and Technology and of the Audio Engineering Society. Previous development roles include digital broadcasting for the ITV companies based at Granada Television; professional audio at AMS Neve working on digital mixing consoles and disk-based recorders and group leader for physical design of custom ICs at Fujitsu.
