JVC unveils dual-stream Megapixel IP-network camera
for critical surveillance applications

16 October 2008, London, UK - JVC has introduced the new VN-X35U IP network 1.3 megapixel security camera which offers free scaling from QUAD VGA to VGA resolution allowing users to conserve bandwidth with VGA images, yet benefit from megapixel resolution when needed.

The VN-X35U creates a surveillance environment where the user can see an image at four times the resolution of standard IP network cameras. The VN-X35U has the ability to digitally zoom in on the recorded image to provide precise image detail in any conditions, day or night.  “We’re very excited about the implementation of megapixel technology in this new camera.  Behind the design are many years of security industry knowledge and engineering know-how, and it promises unrivalled visual information, intelligent monitoring functions and several exciting features,” said Yash Patel, Executive Director, CCTV Europe at JVC Professional Europe Ltd.

The VN-X35U uses a full motion multi-stream codec that delivers dual-stream Quad-VGA (4 x VGA) Motion JPEG and VGA MPEG-4 compression streams simultaneously at 15 frames per second.  In addition, the camera has a built-in in/out audio jack which supports two-way audio to which a microphone and speaker jacks can be attached providing the ability to communicate both ways with people at the camera's location.

With Quad-VGA resolution, up to four times the area can be monitored compared to a standard VGA output camera, when the viewing of the full resolution is not required.  The camera also offers digital PTZ function for the panning and zooming of an image with no moving parts. The VN-X35U features a motion detection function that outputs an alarm, with two inputs and two outputs, whenever movement is detected within a pre-specified area of the image.

The camera’s Easy day/night operation delivers images in light levels as low as 0.3 lux in color and 0.2 lux in black & white mode. The active gamma function (Easy wide-D) allows for backlight compensation and proper video levels are ensured with an advanced AGC (Automatic gain control) that optimises picture quality at all times during the day.

For masking of private areas, the VN-X35U has a free shape mask feature with an unlimited number of positions.  For optimum viewing of images and set up, the camera has a built-in display mode (LCD1/LCD2/CRT/Custom selectable) and images are able to be viewed using a standard Internet browser which is password protected and has IP network filtering for added security.  The VN-X35U supports industry standard Power over Ethernet (POE) for quick installation. Video, audio and power are carried on a single Ethernet cable.  The camera can also be powered using separate data AC 24V power cables.

As one of the leading manufacturers of IP based video cameras and network recorders, JVC’s network products combine high picture quality with state-of-the-art IP technology. JVC offers an open architecture and plug and play features which greatly simplify installation and configuration for system integrators.  As part of JVC's IP range, the VN-X35U is the perfect complement to JVC's hybrid 9-channel VR-N900U or 16-channel VR-N1600U network video recorders which provide an all-digital IP security solution for small to enterprise level security systems.
