Latest news from Wavestore - Hybrid H.264 Recording Solutions

Wavestore video recorders enables both analogue and IP/Megapixel cameras to be recorded using the H.264 protocol; providing the benefits of improved video quality, low latency, higher compression rates and a major reduction in network bandwidth utilisation.

Wavestore recorders are available in DVR, NVR and HVR (hybrid) configurations providing the flexibility to record from a wide range of cameras and the ability to support a variety of compression technologies simultaneously. Thus analogue cameras using H.264 compression can be recorded simultaneously with IP and Megapixel cameras utilising combinations of M-JPEG, MPEG-4, MxPEG or H.264 compression.

The benefit of this aspect of the design is that the consultant, installer or end-user has the freedom to select the most suitable camera for each element of an application and select the associated compression technology for each individual camera according to their preferences and associated benefits.

The Wavestore solution consistently and reliably displays multiple megapixel camera images simultaneously in both live and replay modes through the combination of its well developed hardware, efficient software decoders and distributed processing design.

Whether an application consists of legacy analogue cameras integrated with newly installed IP and megapixel cameras, or an entirely new installation, there is frequently a need to include high resolution or specialist cameras along with the standard cameras, and Wavestore is flexible to address these needs.

Another benefit of Wavestore is the range of solutions; from the compact OPAL solution (with the footprint of a telephone directory able to record up to 16 IP/Megapixel inputs), through to industrial grade, rack-mountable solutions that are able to record up to 32 analogue inputs at 25 frames per second in full D1 resolution, concurrently with up to 32 IP/Megapixel inputs.

Large security systems can be readily supported with a network of Wavestore recorders, delivering the benefit of a long operation life and the ability to expand and upgrade the system as new technology becomes available or the application. Adding IP or Megapixel cameras only requires a license upgrade (which can be installed either locally or remotely) to expand the recording capability.

Wavestore systems are designed and manufactured in the UK, and are supported by qualified technical support team, who are committed to providing a fast and high integrity response.

Whilst Wavelet compression is acknowledged to be ideal for detailed forensic analysis (because it records entire images sequentially), H.264 produces incredible image quality, with the advantages of reduced files sizes (saving on bandwidth and storage), and is therefore ideal for network video surveillance applications.

Wavestore is flexible to be able to accept analogue, IP and megapixel cameras from a wide range of manufacturers that have different compression protocols, enabling camera combinations of analogue cameras being recorded simultaneously with IP cameras from manufacturers including Acti, Arecont, Axis, Bosch, Basler, IQEye, Mobotix and Sony including cameras that are compliant with the ONVIF initiative.

About Wavestore
Wavestore is a world leading digital video recording solution, able to record high quality images from analogue, IP and megapixel cameras simultaneously. Operating on embedded Linux, it delivers high image quality, ease of use and highest reliability; protecting people and assets around the globe and providing good quality video evidence that is admissible in courts of law.  The Linux Operating System ensures the lowest threat from viral attacks, and avoids the cost of firewall, anti-virus, and WindowsTM licenses. At a power failure the Wavestore recorder will stop in safe mode, re-restarting automatically to continue recording just 70 seconds after mains power is restored. Since the year 2000, many thousands of Wavestore systems have been installed into security and surveillance applications around the world, including ports, airports, toll-roads, city centres, casinos, pharmaceutical manufacturing, industry, trains, metro stations, corporate buildings, banks, power stations and government and commercial property.
