JVC Professional Europe have announced the launch of their new hybrid NVR, the model VR - N900U. This 9 channel network recorder, incorporating Milestone Systems XProtect software, can automatically identify and configure for any JVC IP cameras, or combination of network, up to four analogue or server sourced image streams. Designed as a stand alone unit, it is both scaleable and flexible enough to allow the integration of other manufacturers devices, without the need for any additional PC or computer involvement. As an advanced "triplex" unit, it allows for parallel monitoring of both playback and recorded data, whilst allowing real time monitoring of all other connected channels. Utilising the operational benefits of Milestone Systems XProtect software, the unit offers a unique and flexible solution in a range of applications. Offering both MJPEG and MPEG-4 over either LAN, WAN or Internet connections, it can record at a maximum of 120 fps at VGA 640 x 480 resolution, or 30 fps in SXGA resolution of 1280 x 1024. Recordings are stored to the built in 250Gb hard drive, with access available for up to 10 users simultaneously, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Additional features include PTZ control of connected cameras through the web browser, audio recording, motion detection functions and various quick search options. Hiroyuki Takekura, Director of Victor Company of Japan and Head of the Professional Systems Business Group, said "JVC are delighted to be offering a Network Video recorder that works with the bundled Milestone software creating the 'best of breed' product for use in an Internet-based environment" The unit is scheduled for shipping late 2006.
