It's not often that you see a number of weatherproof CCTV Camera Housings heading out to sea, but at a recent ship launching ceremony in Genoa, Italy, that's exactly what happened. The launch of a new ship is always a special occassion, but for the staff of specialist CCTV equipment manufacturer Videotec Srl., this was a particularly prestigious event. With the Head of the State Snr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and the Minister of Defence Snr.Antonio Martino in attendance, the Italian Navy proudly inaugurated it's newest aircraft carrier, the 'Cavour'. Equipped with nine of the companies 'Atex' certified explosion proof CCTV camera housings, this 'state of the art' carrier will provide a key resource for the Italian Navy. Weighing in at just over 27,000 tonnes and almost quarter of a kilometre in length, this boat carries a crew of 1,210 ratings operating over a maximum range of 7,000 nautical miles. Videotec Srl is already recognised as Italy's largest specialist CCTV equipment manufacturer, with their headquarters manufacturing facility located in Schio near Venice.
