A General Guide to CCTV Cameras - continued

Unlike Domestic grade cameras which are generally only intended to provide acceptable quality pictures up to relatively short distances, the range of industrial units on the market is somewhat breathtaking (ok so it’s not really that exciting). In no particular order, they are:-

Dummy cameras - a range of visually compatible cameras intended to provide a benign low cost deterrent effect.

Industrial quality PCB Cameras - a complete working camera comprising one or more Printed Circuit Boards.

Bullet or Tube type cameras - a complete miniature camera suitable for ‘discreet’ often external monitoring of confined areas.

Fixed ‘covert’ type cameras - A range of ‘off the shelf’ hidden camera units available for covert monitoring of internal areas.

Vehicle mount cameras - sealed camera units used extensively for a whole range of diverse vehicle mounted applications.

Standard ‘industrial’ type cameras - The backbone of the CCTV industry, literally thousands of cameras for almost any application.

Network and server cameras - designed for transmitting pictures directly onto a computer network, or over the Internet.

Specialist cameras - a range of custom built units for specialist applications, e.g. pipe inspection, prison cell monitoring,

Infra red cameras - designed specifically to operate under light frequencies which are invisible to the human eye.

Miniature ‘Dome’ type cameras - fixed ‘discreet’ monitoring cameras used for a limited range of internal/external applications.

Remote control ‘Dome’ cameras - powerful ‘discreet’ target tracking internal or external application units.

Full function PTZ assemblies - The ‘heavy weight’ highly powerful, remote control target tracking cameras, as used in Town Centres.
