Gone are the days when effective communication could be achieved with two baked bean tins and a decent length of string. Now we live in a supposedly Digital age, where ill mannered protocols conspire to thwart even the best designed control systems. Over the last twenty five years, Doktor Jon has seen significant changes in the way, even the most basic of CCTV camera systems are controlled. Having spent many a happy hour (and bleeding fingers) lacing togethor thick bundles of colour coded wire conductors behind customised control panels, the advent of the microprocessor has seen a radical change in the way modern Closed Circuit Television systems are engineered. One obvious advantage for the seriously overworked installer, is the relative speed and simplicity involved in setting up, even quite complex configurations. That said, it may surprise you to know that some of the older or indeed ancient techniques used in camera control, are still very much alive and kicking today. To get a better idea of what can or cannot be done, or why indeed youd want to do it in the first place, take a look at these topics:- Hard wired cable - With a simple one camera package used over a relatively short distance, hard wire is still the cheapest option. Digital Telemetry - Once a product of the space age, now most remote control systems rely on digital telemetry to get things moving. Network & Internet - On larger intranet networks, or indeed the Internet itself, remote control of cameras can easily become a piece of .... Ten must know things about Control Systems - Go on, you know you must .... know, mustnt you? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
