They say a picture is worth
Now admittedly, you do have to sit fairly close to the centre axis of the screen to achieve the best effect (its actually a bit like trying to view a hologram; if you move too far off to one side, the picture begins to disappear!). In fact, there is a clearly defined optimum viewing 'window' outside of which, the picture quality will begin to degrade. Even on Doktor Jons hugely expensive, beautiful engineered flat screen computer display, the slightest movement off centre has a perceptible effect on the displayed colours. However, until these highly desirable display units achieve near pricing parity with their computer equivalents, were unlikely to see a massive explosion in terms of market take up. Here in the U.K., when a quality 14 flatscreen with composite video input hits the £ 300 price mark ($ or € 475 approx.) then we can probably safely kiss goodbye to the old faithful metal cased CRT monitor (hopefully not when its switched on!!). That said, it's worth remembering that for many applications, a £ 150 plastic cased monitor will still be the model of choice (although sadly, not normally for the right reasons), so the eventual demise of CRT monitors is still a few years away yet.
