The Forensic Video Analysis Group have launched what is claimed to be the UK's first quality assessment facility for security video recording. The company which is based in Colwyn Bay, has had its testing service endorsed by the North Wales Police - more info. on this story

DVTel have recently integrated their Latitude Network Video Management system, to work with a Gunshot Detection system. It's traditional for some celebrants in Los Angeles to fire off handguns to welcome in the New Year, but with the latest integrated technology, any revellers thinking of letting off a shot at midnight, or indeed any other time of the day, may now be tracked by the cities remote control surveillance cameras, as they automatically respond to the sound and location source of any gunfire. -

JVC Professional Europe will be launching the new VN-V686 dome camera series at the forthcoming IIPSEC 2008 show at Stoneleigh Park. Offered as an indoor IP PTZ camera with 36x optical zoom, the model VN-V686U is also offered as a fully weatherproofed IP varient, the VN-V686WPU. Specialist IP Video MegaPixel camera manufacturer Arecont Vision, have announced the launch of their latest range of H.264 based cameras. Models ranging from 1.3 to 5 MegaPixel made their debut at the recently held INTERSEC Middle East security show in Dubai, and whilst evaluation models are now available from stock, routine supplies are scheduled for delivery commencing the 2nd quarter of 2008. Pelco have announced their intention to further build on their key role as an Open Systems Provider, with numerous projects currently being developed with partner businesses. In advance of further announcements, the company have also confirmed that their Integral DigitalSentry line of digital video management systems, now seamlessly integrate with the Camclosure IP Series and IP 3701 cameras. Fluidmesh Networks have recently launched their latest model 1100, a point-to-point wireless ethernet bridge designed specifically for video security applications. Operable on either 2,4GHz, 5.4GHz, 5.8 and 4.9GHz, the unit provides a flexible approach to deploying a wireless network, and can easily be upgraded to integrate into a Mesh configuration, whilst providing an easy Web based interface for set up and monitoring.

IndigoVision are supplying a complete end-to-end IP Video solution as part of a campus wide CCTV upgrade for the Miller School of Medicine, at the University of Miami. When completed, the project will provide management of some 300+ cameras over a 45 acre site, using the company's "Control Center" Video and Alarm management software and Network Video recorders - more info. on this story ...

UK based manufacturer ZedCam Ltd. have introduced a range of customised covert CCTV cameras, which can be used in a range of different situations. One model uses a camera disguised as a standard domestic air freshener, although it's not stated whether the camera only records when it smells something a bit fishy. -
