Extreme CCTV have recently released details of their new PX 100 Speed Dome, designed specifically for use at night under Infra Red conditions.

Telewest Business have been awarded a £ 1.3 million contract to supply a new digital network for North Lanarkshire Council. Described as one of the largest IP networks in Europe, the 1Gbps fibre network will eventually be uprated to 2Gb, providing a flexible communications infrastructure for the authorities CCTV schemes - source - DM Europe - 3rd March 2006

Cisco Systems have confirmed the acquisition of Connecticut based SyPixx Networks, a specialist company involved in the development of hardware and software needed for the integration of conventional analogue CCTV, into an IP Network. Subject to regulatory approval, the $ 51 million deal is expected to be closed by the end of April 2006.

A £ 1.5 million Highways Agency contract has been placed with Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions Traffic and Transportation Group, for the upgrade of an existing motorway surveillance system around Birmingham, U.K. - source - Business Weekly - 7th March 2006


IP Video Surveillance Software developer Milestone Systems, have
announced the appointment of three new key personnel to the
management team. Lawrence de Guzman has taken up position
as Director of Marketing, Mads Bo Frederiksen as VP Sales, and
Kim Macallan as Head of Product Management.

JVC Professional Europe have announced the launch of their new fixed VN-C20U IP network camera, with PoE and M-JPEG compression. The camera will be on show at the forthcoming IFSEC event.

At the recent Tokyo Security Show, Californian based Arecont Vision have announced the launch of their new AV 5100 Five megapixel IP Network camera . Capable of streaming 15 images per second at 2560 (H) x 1600 (V) resolution, the model is expected to go into volume production during the 2nd quarter of 2006.


JVC Professional Europe have announced the appointment of Leon Rockall as their new southern area Sales Executive. He comes to the business with some experience of JVC products, having previously worked both with a manufacturer and CCTV distributor in the past.
Yash Patel, Executive Director of JVC Professional Europe in welcoming Leon on board said "We're ... confident that his valuable experience and enthusiasm will enable customers to benefit from the support he will provide..."

Edinburgh based specialist IP video software developer Indigovision, have announced their first ever operating profit in a half year period. Whilst sales have more than doubled in the 2nd half of 2005, the company which provided its products for the Turin Winter Olympics, is finding it increasingly difficult to recruit more staff.

Pacific Computers Ltd. have recently undertaken an IP video surveillance project for MFI, the UK's largest furniture company. Using Panasonic network cameras and Milestone XProtect Enterprise software, two Home Delivery Centres have had their on site guarding services replaced by remote video monitoring, offering cost savings of around £ 55,000 for each site per year.

The UK based IP UserGroup has confirmed that the official launch of the "IP UserGroup USA", will take place at the ISC West Show in Las Vegas being held on 5 - 7th April 2006 (Booth #22146).


JVC Professional Europe have introduced a new model DVR, the VR-509E. Essentially an MPEG-2 based 9 channel unit, the model uniquely provides embedded time and date generation on evidence copied to DVD, and also allows evidence to be transferred to DVD, in a format compatible with normal domestic players.

CCTV systems specialist G1 have completed the installation of a new control room at the prestigious West Quay Shopping Centre in Southampton. With 99 stores and 4,000 parking spaces, constant video monitoring is now assured using banks of JVC 20" and 17" flatscreen monitors, and furniture manufactured by Gresham Wood. G1 reports that this was the first time that Feng Shui had been used by them, in the design of a control room.

Canada based Extreme CCTV have announced the release of two new options to it's popular 'REG' licence plate recognition systems. The REG M1 and D1 variants, are designed for vehicle based ANPR operations, and vehicle overview functions respectively.
