CCTV Industry 'News in Brief' - December 2006

At the 7th annual Detektor awards ceremony recently held in Copenhagen, Axis Communications have been awarded the prestigious CCTV product of the year accolade, for their Axis 212 3 megapixel PTZ network camera.

Specialist Korean manufacturer Nanophotonics, have announced the launch of a unique low cost catadioptric ultra wide angle lens. Designed for use with a 1/3" imager. The innovative optical system is capable of providing a 151 degree field of view, with distortion quoted at less than 1%.

New from Pelco this month, the latest version of their integrated dome camera units, the Camclosure IS, provides five different pre assembled case designs, each offered with five camera / optic combinations, to suit practically any conditions .
With imaging packages that range from standard resolution colour, through high resolution, wide dynamic and day / night operation, users can select the exact performance package to suit their needs. Transmission options include composite unbalanced, or balanced UTP connections, with an additional service video output as standard.

Leading Italian manufacturer of CCTV products Videotec SpA, has recently announced the appointment of Bob Groom as UK & Ireland Sales Manager.
Bob joins the company having recently worked in a sales and marketing role with Sanyo Europe. Videotec's MD Alessio Grotto says " We are delighted that someone of Bob's extensve knowledge of the British and Irish market place has joined our team".

Following on the tradition of previous years, California based CCTV manufacturer Pelco have again excelled in their annual "Toys for Tots" fund raiser. In support of the childrens charity campaign run by the US Marine Corps, throughout the year staff have been organising company wide events, which has resulted in a staggering 1,039,936 gifts being donated in total. This years offerings were handed over at a special parade and presentation event, held recently at the company's Clovis headquarters.

JVC Professional Europe have announced the introduction of two new LCD flat panel displays.
The 17" LM - 170 and 15" LM - 150 are 4:3 ratio metal cased monitors providing resolution up to SXGA standard, designed throughout for continuous operation, and being particularly suited to the constant demands of a CCTV Control Room environment.
