Graffiti and Vandalism -
continued

The strength of a recognisable scheme is based on the premis that any offender, having initially been warned about the probable consequences of their actions, will be caught and dealt with on the strength of irrefutable CCTV evidence.

Whilst clearly recognisable “Tagbuster”© posters and promotional material will be displayed, in areas where covert CCTV has been employed, the message will be that if you tag in this area, you will be caught on camera, and you can expect a visit from the police.

So how do you guarantee that you can catch the little .... taggers!

Well apart from short term projects where the local residents or traders can if necessary hire the appropriate CCTV equipment for the length of the operation, there is one little twist which
Doktor Jon has obviously forgotten to mention.

Poster sites. Now what’s so important about poster sites, you ask?

Well ... if you hide the working camera inside the poster site, you end up with a jaw dropping ‘face on’ shot of those awfully naughty chappies, doing what they do worst, with or without their 'hoodies'.

If mounted onto building walls, the camera can be powered up using hard wired cables, or alternatively, if you need to have portable signage, the camera and video transmitter can be supplied from internal sealed lead acid batteries.

The poster itself is obviously protected behind anti vandal laminated glass or polycarbonate sheeting, so if they do decide to take a brick to it (or set fire to the plastic), they may well wish in the fullness of time ... that they hadn’t.

In some situations, it can be useful to deter offences in technically difficult locations using overt ‘dummy’ camera housings, whilst the video recording poster sites can be placed to best advantage at nearby locations.

The wording on the posters will of course provide sufficient warning as required under the Data Protection Act.
